Description
Primary Purpose:
Assist the Construction Director with managing the Department’s environmental program and
coordinating building audits, fire inspections, and general inspections. Maintain the Department’s
compliance with current codes, laws, ADA, and state regulations. Assist in managing permits,
records and documentation. Conduct and oversee Indoor Air Quality assessments and Asbestos
Records Management.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Asbestos Program Management certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Basic understanding of all types of maintenance and construction practices and ability to read
- and understand building specifications and schematics
- Ability to understand and communicate federal and state codes and laws
- Ability to maintain excellent records and files
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Proficient computer skills with use of the following in Microsoft Office applications (Word,
- Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Proficient in use of the English language, both oral and written
- Efficient organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Experience:
- Two years of general maintenance experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Facilitate fire and general building inspections of HCDE buildings, centers, and campuses.
- Facilitate the Asbestos awareness program.
- Facilitate Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) control for the department.
- Assist the Director of Construction in budget planning and special project cost estimate
- acquisitions.
- Assist Construction Director with observations and inspections at ongoing construction projects.
- Maintain construction files.
- Prepare bid documents, contracts, subcontracts, and requisitions for construction projects.
- Facilitate playground inspections.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
