Position Summary:

Performs, coordinates and oversees the nursing services for safe, effective clinical care delivery for the ECT Clinic/Center for Interventional Psychiatry Clinic. Responsible for nursing staff education and training.

Position Key Accountabilities:

Essential Functions

  • Provides and supervises clinical training of all nursing staff; manages, coordinates, and supervises the clinical functions; manages staffing and ensures staffing coverage of the clinic.
  • Performs preoperative preparation and postoperative care, including IV infusion, prepares patient for the procedure, and provides safe and effective care during the recovery period from the anesthesia while at the PACU. Assists the psychiatrist or anesthesiologist in the delivery of quality patient care, including education and emotional support through explanation of the ECT procedure and other treatment modalities. May administer CPR or ACLS measures as needed.
  • Effectively manages all aspects of the patient care process and documents patient care and outcomes per hospital policy. Participates in the performance initiatives for the clinic (chart reviews/audits, PI initiatives, etc.). Submits PI reviews and regulatory state reports as required.
  • Ensures that the equipment and machines used in the clinic are in proper and working order, daily environmental rounds are performed, and within standards, and supplies needed are adequate at all times.
  • Functions in the roles of Shift Leader directing the delivery of care by the nursing staff to ensure that the proper procedures are followed for the delivery of safe patient care, and quality customer service.
  • Assists the Clinic Manager/DON with Human Resources (HR) activities in regards to recruitment and selection, training and education, mentoring and performance evaluations.
  • Develops and revises policies, procedures, and protocols relating to ECT or any therapies related to mood disorders as needed. Stays abreast of changes in the nursing field by attending classes and seminars as well as by reading professional journals and periodicals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Certification/Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation required
  • SEDATION - RN- Sedation Moderate certified preferred.
  • ACLS required

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing school with one year nursing experience required Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing school with three years nursing experience required Nursing Diploma (3 year program) and two years nursing experience required Will accept ADN with two years experience at HCPC as a Staff Nurse I required

Years of experience varies based on education level required

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
