Position Description:
Lyte Fiber, LLC is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Associate Fiber Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support the planning, design, installation, and maintenance of fiber-optic networks. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level engineer looking to grow their career in the fiber optics and telecommunications industry.
As an Associate Fiber Design Engineer, you will collaborate closely with senior fiber design engineers and fiber design engineers to ensure the efficient and timely implementation of fiber-optic systems. You will be involved in technical design, fieldwork, and troubleshooting to ensure network performance and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, development, and implementation of fiberoptic network infrastructure.
- Conduct site surveys and assess fiberoptic system requirements for various projects.
- Work with crossfunctional teams to ensure fiberoptic network installations meet all quality and regulatory standards.
- Help with troubleshooting and maintaining fiberoptic systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform network testing and assist with fiber splicing, termination, and testing activities.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including design drawings, schematics, and reports.
- Assist with the planning and execution of fiber optic network upgrades and expansions.
- Provide technical support during fiber network deployment and commissioning phases.
- Work closely with clients and vendors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations during fiber installation and maintenance.
- Manage the lifecycle of engineering geospatial data, including data creation, updating, and archiving.
- Collaborate with engineering, GIS, network planning, field and construction teams to ensure data reflects the current state of the fiber network from planned through as built.
- Ensure asbuilt information is properly input into Vetro from construction print redlines accurately and in a timely manner and uploaded into 811.
- Perform quality control on projects and plans to ensure all requirements are met to adhere to Lyte Fiber’s standards.
Additional Duties:
- Attend various meetings with management, departments, and vendors to ensure company objectives are met.
- Provide weekly reports and update management on status and issues.
- Work with PMO and provide regular updates on schedule, delays, and what steps may be required to mitigate the delays.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in GIS, Engineering, Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience is a plus.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in GIS systems.
- Proficiency in GIS tools and applications, such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to travel for business as required.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- Strong interest in fiberoptic technologies and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Basic understanding of fiberoptic systems, splicing, and testing.
- Knowledge of fiber optic network design principles and industry standards is a plus.
- Familiarity with fiber testing equipment (OTDR, power meters, light sources, etc.) is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and processes quickly.
