Job Skills:
The Terralogic Document Systems (TDS) Business Development Representative role is predominantly outside sales. In this role, you will be:
- Assigned a territory that is exclusively yours to work. Austin/Houston-based BDR: you will cover a multi-county area around the Austin or Houston metro region and extend into surrounding territories as business needs require. Territory may be added or reassigned to maximize BDR productivity.
- Selling document scanning/digitization, document management software, scanning hardware, and electronic forms solutions for the government and other public & private sector entities.
- Expected to be out on the road visiting prospects and clients at their offices approximately 14 days per month. Efficient territory coverage will require 5-8 overnights per month to access the more distant counties & municipalities.
- Cold- and warm-calling self-generated and pre-existing leads at city and county government offices, courts, schools, districts, healthcare, and others. Website-generated leads will be provided to you when received by TDS.
For all contact with prospects and current customers, you will seek opportunities to discuss:
- Records scanning and digitization projects with the goal of securing appointments to complete Document Surveys (described below).
- Document Management software solutions—this could include anything from basic on-premise search-and-retrieve packages to full-featured platforms including forms creation, workflow management, advanced indexing, cloud storage with on- or off-site access, etc.
- Hardware Scanner solutions – including Desktop and Enterprise scanners, Large Format scanners, and Microfilm/Microfiche scanners to compliment our full-serve scanning and software solutions.
- Electronic form solutions to complement the clients’ desire to go digital with their records.
SURVEYING DOCUMENTS
The process of surveying records for scanning will consist of:
- Measuring paper records in a variety of sizes and conditions. Everything from postcard-size to large-format 36”x48” prints. Records will be stored in boxes, file cabinets, and movable storage rack systems. Large-format prints will be in rolls or in large flat drawer cabinets.
- Measuring microfilm rolls and microfiche cards stored in boxes, cabinets, racks, or other.
- Using your measurements to calculate an estimate of total images to be scanned.
- Compiling your measurements into an Excel spreadsheet, which you will send to the home office.
- The office will prepare a formal proposal, sent back to you, for you to present and review with your prospect.
Job Technologies:
ADMINISTRATIVE EXPECTATIONS
During an average week, you will:
- Allot 8-12 hours per week for office time.
- Enter all your activity into the company-provided Customer Relations Management package.
- Submit a Weekly Activity Report each Friday to include the Quarterly Dashboard, Activity Summary, Pipeline Summary, a short summary of highlights for the week and what’s coming up next week.
- Set appointments 2-3 weeks out, filling in gaps as the week approaches. It is understood that you will not have appointments to fill an entire day or 2-3 days out on the road. Set what appointments you can, and the rest of your time will be cold- and warm-calling our traditional verticals.
- Track and submit your expenses every Friday for reimbursement via the company-provided submission form.
- Track your mileage driven on a paper tracker, then transfer mileage and destination info onto a provided Excel spreadsheet to be submitted at month’s end along with receipts for all fuel purchases for reimbursement.
- Participate in regular one-on-ones with your direct supervisor.
- Participate in occasional in-person sales team meetings to be held in El Paso, Albuquerque, or another location to be announced.
- Perform any other duties or responsibilities assigned to you by TDS appropriate to and in keeping with your success and the general success of the company.
