    Primary Purpose:


    The 7th Grade STEM Science Teacher will provide rigorous and engaging instruction aligned with state standards (TEKS) and district curriculum. The teacher will design hands-on, inquiry-based lessons that integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) principles to foster problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking skills in middle school students.

    Qualifications:


    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
    • Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate 4–8 Science or 4–8 Generalist certification (or eligibility)
    • Strong knowledge of middle school science content and effective instructional practices
    • ESL certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred

    • Special Knowledge/Skills:

      • Knowledge of the middle school science curriculum and TEKS
      • Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
      • Ability to integrate technology and engineering concepts into science instruction
      • Skilled in designing project-based and inquiry-based learning experiences
      • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
    • Experience:

      • Successful completion of student teaching or approved internship (required)
      • Prior teaching experience in middle school is preferred

    Major Responsibilities and Duties

    Instructional Strategies


    • Develop and implement engaging, standards-based science lessons that incorporate STEM concepts.
    • Use inquiry-based learning, labs, projects, and real-world applications to deepen student understanding.
    • Integrate technology, robotics, engineering design challenges, and mathematical modeling into instruction.
    • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English learners and students with special needs.

    Student Growth and Classroom Environment


    • Establish and maintain a safe, positive, and well-managed classroom environment.
    • Promote collaboration, teamwork, and problem-solving through group projects and STEM challenges.
    • Assess student learning through a variety of methods and adjust instruction accordingly.
    • Foster curiosity, innovation, and critical thinking skills in all students.

      Professional Responsibilities

    • Participate in campus and district professional learning communities (PLCs).
    • Collaborate with colleagues to design cross-curricular STEM initiatives.
    • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
    • Maintain accurate records of student grades, attendance, and performance.
    • Participate in professional development and stay current with best practices in STEM education.


    *Salary commensurate with experience
    • Starting Salary $66,000 for fully certified teachers
    Works 187 Day Calendar
    • Position cannot be performed remotely

    Sheldon ISD will accept applications for this position through 10/03/2025.
