Description

A co-mentored postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Department of Genetics and Thoracic Oncology under the direct supervision of both Dr. Vaishnavi and Dr. Gardner. Our research focuses on studying the molecular and biological processes governing the development and plasticity of cancer, histological transformation, the basis for environmental exposures and the development of cancer and improving the therapeutic responses for lung cancer. We are working towards producing translational discoveries leading to better methods of early cancer detection, improved cancer patient care and new cancer drug development. The range of our research includes cancer drug and biomarker development, cancer gene discovery, lung biology and development of novel genetically engineered or variations of mouse models to study human cancers.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their peer-reviewed publications and funding. They will have a background in cancer biology and expertise in the design of experiments and the execution of in vitro and in vivo experiments, as well as demonstrating expertise in molecular biology, genetics, cell culture, and all aspects of animal work, etc.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have a recent Ph.D. degree with strong research interests.
