Position Summary:
The Department of Epidemiology at the UTHealth School of Public Health is seeking an exceptional candidate for a post-doctoral fellowship in genetic and cardiovascular epidemiology. In this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting genomic and multi-omic analyses. The postdoc will also collaborate with team members and external partners, contribute to manuscript preparation and publication of research findings, assist in securing grant funding, and perform other assigned duties, thereby gaining valuable experience in research design, execution, and grantsmanship.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in epidemiology or a related field, although applicants with degrees in other disciplines may be considered if they possess the requisite skills for genomic and multi-omic research. Preferred skills include programming and bioinformatics proficiency, but candidates with a strong research background are encouraged to apply.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Analyze genomic and multi-omic data in relation to cardiovascular phenotypes, often in collaboration with other members of the research team or with external partner
Disseminate research findings through manuscripts and presentations, often in collaboration with other members of the research team or with external partners.
Assist in obtaining grant funds and other types of financial support, to include leading their own postdoctoral award applications as well as contributing to other efforts to obtain funding for the research team.
Mentor members of the research team, including students and staff.
Stay abreast of biomedical progress, technological/analytical advances, and new resources in order to upgrade research skills and produce better and faster results
Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
