Department: Team Operations
Reports to: Manager, Home Clubhouse
Classification: Part-time/Non-exempt/Seasonal
Summary
The Houston Astros are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented tailor who can alter, adjust, and repair garments. This individual will ensure all measurements and fittings are done properly, ensuring precision and efficiency. This individual should be knowledgeable of clothing design and construction, be proficient in sewing and have previous experience in alterations. This position is an hourly role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Perform uniform sewing, alternations, and embellishments with accuracy and efficiency to include taking up stride, lengthening/shortening tails on shirts, tapering shirts, adjusting waists, hemming trousers, mending tears, replacing zippers, applying patches, applying stripping and applying letters and numbers.
- Ensure the proper fit of garments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience & Skills:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Extensive knowledge in alterations preferred.
- Proficiency in all basic and advanced alterations of men's tailored clothing.
- Formal training in tailoring a plus.
- Knowledgeable of sewing machines preferred.
- Detail-oriented and quality-focused.
Work Environment
Position will work in a stadium environment. This position will be within the stadium for majority of working days. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium environment.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and see (both close and distant objects). The employee is frequently required to use hands and arms to handle, feel and/or reach. Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50lbs. Ability to sit, walk long distances and/or stand for long periods of time.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position, and hours of work and days will be scheduled around the Houston Astros home game schedule.
Travel
No travel is expected in this role.
