FIFA World Cup 26™ will be the biggest sporting event ever, with three Host Countries, 16 Host Cities, 48 teams and 104 matches uniting an entire continent to showcase a momentous new tournament format. With more countries, cities, teams, and games, FIFA World Cup 26™ will be the most inclusive tournament ever, engaging millions of fans across 16 unique stadiums and billions worldwide. The tournament will take place in June and July 2026.  

Position Overview   

The FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host City team is seeking an experienced and executive-level Safety & Security Consultant to join our planning efforts. As the Safety & Security Consultant, this position will help with all safety and security planning efforts in coordination with relevant state, local and federal law enforcement partners in addition to FIFA World Cup 26 security officials and stadium/event venue security personnel.  

This position is a contract position that begins in October 2024 and ends in August 2026.  This position is not eligible for employee benefits. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Represent and serve as the Host City’s and applicable partners’ liaison at all meetings (both virtual and in-person) focused on safety and security planning for the event. 
  • Serve as Host City’s liaison with FIFA and law enforcement planning partners to ensure effective communication and collaboration by all parties as it relates to the design and implementation of security protocols, policies, plans, and systems to cover all possible security threats. 
  • Ensure all relevant parties are effectively communicating expectations, plans, and areas of responsibility. Document all internal audits of proposed plans and recommend improvements. 

Qualifications:  

  • BA in criminal justice, public safety, or a similar relevant field required. 
  • Minimum 25 years of law enforcement experience in a related field. 
  • In-depth experience coordinating and leading multi-faceted safety and security operational plans for global sporting events of the highest degree. 
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects simultaneously.  
  • Ability to work extended hours and flexible schedule including nights and weekends as needed. 
  • Interpersonal skills – listens to others, works well in a team environment.
