This role works cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and sales to drive innovation, enhance product offerings, and contribute to top-line growth. The ideal candidate combines strong technical acumen with business development instincts and enjoys bridging the gap between product design and customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Innovation & Development

  • Research market needs, customer feedback, and industry trends to identify new product opportunities.
  • Lead the design and development of new precast solutions in collaboration with engineering and production teams.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and coordinate testing and prototyping for new product lines.
  • Maintain a forward-thinking product roadmap based on customer pain points and internal capabilities.

Sales & Business Development Support

  • Serve as a product subject matter expert during customer meetings, presentations, and project consultations.
  • Partner with the Sales team to develop proposals and introduce new or customized product solutions to key clients.
  • Identify potential customers or markets for new products and support outreach strategies.
  • Participate in trade shows, industry events, and client visits to gather insights and build relationships.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the primary liaison between Sales, Engineering, and Production for all product development initiatives.
  • Coordinate product rollouts, including internal training, documentation, and manufacturing preparation.
  • Support pricing strategies in alignment with product design, cost models, and market demand.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Create and maintain documentation for all new product designs, specs, and launch plans.
  • Track product performance and customer adoption post-launch and recommend improvements.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on development pipeline, opportunities, and market trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Science, Industrial Design, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in product development, sales engineering, or technical business development in a construction or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical understanding of materials, manufacturing methods, and product design (precast experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to engage customers and present technical solutions in a clear, compelling way.
  • Proficiency in CAD software; SolidWorks or Revit a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cross-functional leadership experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Successful Results

  • Launch product solutions that meet real customer needs and can be produced efficiently by our team.
  • Build strong internal collaboration between engineering, sales, and operations for smooth product rollouts.
  • Support revenue growth by identifying and promoting products that differentiate Locke in the market.
  • Provide technical credibility and innovative thinking in customer-facing conversations.
  • Lead projects from concept to launch, delivering on time and within scope.
  • Gather meaningful customer insights that influence product direction and development.
  • Improve standardization, reduce custom inefficiencies, and expand our go-to-market product set.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop effective product materials, technical content, and messaging that support new product launches and customer education.

At Locke Solutions, we believe product innovation starts with a deep understanding of both our customer’s challenges and our production strengths. The Product Development Manager plays a vital role in turning smart ideas into profitable solutions—bridging engineering and sales to create real impact. If you’re excited about solving problems, working cross-functionally, and helping shape the future of construction, we’d love to meet you.
