Description
Qualifications:
- Ability to speak, read, and understands the English language.
- Physically able to perform the assigned duties. Frequently required to lift 60 lbs., bend, stoop, and reach above shoulder level. May be required to work in cold and refrigerated areas. Occasionally required to drive automatic equipment or vehicles, climb ladders, stairs, ramps, and scaffolds.
- Continuously required to work with machinery, walk and stand.
- Two or more years of cook experience required.
- Professional culinary training preferred.
- A thorough understanding of safe food handling including but not limited to proper time and temperature, cross contamination, and proper rotation practices.
- Ability to provide attentive, positive, and accurate customer service at all times.
- Self-motivated.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform fast pace short order breakfast, lunch food preparation, and grab and go items.
- Follow or create recipes as needed.
- Visually inspect, select and use quality food and beverage
- Prepare small catering orders for the building.
- Assist in inventories of food and supplies.
- Assist in creating menus for café and catering.
- Consistently maintain standards of quality, cost, presentation, and flavor of foods.
- Clean and maintain work area, utensils, and equipment.
- Maintain ongoing inventory and rotation of product.
- Provide and ensure excellent customer service.
- Attend the Sanitation Certification Class required by departmental guidelines. Comply with food handling procedures and maintain sanitation standards.
- Comply with appropriate operational procedures and safety standards in the use of all equipment.
- Support the CFISD with regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of MHAB-VPAC and/or Café Manager.
